Kids and BJJ competition First of all, the competition should be fun. We also encourage parents to communicate with their children about the ups and downs of competition and what life lessons can be learned through the training. At Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu we understand that kids have a lot of activities going on in their lives, however students must be consistent in their training before considering registering for a championship. Showing up to the classes, showing heart, learning and practising techniques, drilling and rolling with team mates are very important to get ready to compete. Regardless of the outcome of the day, we expect the children to have fun and we make sure to let them how proud we are of them. It can be a huge experience on how to deal with pressure, problem solving, and adversity. It’s an amazing way for them to learn, gain mental toughness, and have fun showing off their Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. We also recommend to always talk to the coaches before registering for any competition. If you have any questions or concerns please let us know. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can promote the child's development, not only physically but also the socially and emotionally. Participating in Bjj classes in a balanced, safe and adapted manner can help your child cope and accept delicate emotions. Our academy follows the 6 blades philosophy: Family, Discipline, Respect, Attitude, Loyalty and Honour. The kids learn the best way to defend against the bullies and without get in trouble. They will learn how control the opponents, takedown, keep the top position and get out of the bottom position until an adult helps out. Please contact us if you need more information about our classes for kids from 2 years old. Book a free introductory class this week for your kids! CONFIDENCE We believe in the first 12 months, kids and adults, will be able to build the confidence so much during the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sessions. The "gentle art" lets the smallers train or fight anybody bigger. Using the leverages and body weight, the bjj practitioners learn the best way to control the opponents and submit them. The BJJ techniques are based in control the distance, stay ahead in the game (human chess) and neutralise any attacks from the opponents. The consistence in the sessions are really important to keep the mind and body health. You build up a muscle memory as repeat the techniques so many times. We are very proud of every student! Also thank you all the parents for bringing the kids to our dojo. Osss Confidence
An investment in BJJ (and by extension -- your child's martial arts journey) is an investment in their future. Why? Because this isn't just about self-defense skills. This is about life skills.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches kids to confront the hard obstacles and problem solve in the face of adversity. In terms of self development, this is about finding out how much you can accomplish by yourself. With BJJ, all the little fears and insecurities will fall away in no time. Bullies, exams, coming to terms with young adulthood -- none of this will feel so daunting when you're forced to exceed your limitations (and stop the other guy from choking you out) on a regular basis. Consistency, focus, and dedication are crucial during the first year. It is fundamental that parents keep their kids motivated, and not just with BJJ. After all, this is an investment in your little warriors' character. Feel free to reach out and contact us to find out more today.
